I just want to start by congratulating all athletes that competed on the weekend and thank all the parents and helpers that were there for the athletes first in person competition of 2021. It was an amazing weekend to be part of.
Saturday morning started nice and early with our first team of the weekend being our Youth Cheerstars Level 1 Team Leo. This is not only the first time they have competed but the first time that most of these athletes have competed at all in a cheerleading competition. For those who aren’t familiar with the Cheerstars scoring system, each team is scored out of 25 and giving a colour ribbon grading according to how well they performed certain criteria and skills within the routine. Teams are graded on parts of a routine including stunting, tumbling, jumps, motions and are judged on teamwork, timing and, choreography and ability to perform their skills.
Leo is currently a team of eight athletes and their performance netted them a pink ribbon performance which puts them in the 21- 25 point range for their scoring. This is a great achievement for the athletes and gives them a great starting point on which to aspire and improve on.
Next for the day was Signature All Starz Junior Level 1 All Star Division team Gemini. Level 1 All Star Cheer Athletes are judged on a score out of 90 points. For any team that scores over 80 means that the team has performed extremely well. All 5 teams in this division received a score of over 80 for the competition and Geminis’ score of 82.8 was enough to place 3rd in their division behind 2 very impressive and high performing teams. I have to say to Gemini that i can’t wait to see what they have in store for 2022.
Overall Saturday was a great day and the energy of all athletes that performed is amazing. Hope to see you all there next time. If you want to find out result for Sunday check out the Dance Results for Cheercon State Championships.
See you all next time.
